Say No to Extell: Press Conference & Rally

Join us on the steps of the former Wellington Hotel site (871 Seventh Ave between W 55th & W 56th Streets) as we make our voices heard before the CB5 Full Board votes on Extell Development’s application on May 14.

This isn’t just about one building. Supertall towers like the proposed 1,050-foot tower at 871 Seventh Avenue represent a growing threat to the character, livability, and historic fabric of Midtown neighborhoods across New York City — blocking daylight, overwhelming infrastructure, and delivering luxury density in exchange for public benefits the community has already earned.

But it is also very much about this block, this avenue, and this neighborhood. We’ll be calling on CB5 to reject Extell’s request for 18 bonus stories built on a transit improvement the MTA is already legally required to make — and to hold the line on the daylight, noise, and quality-of-life protections that West 50s residents deserve.
