Preserving What Makes Our Neighborhood Irreplaceable
The West 50s is home to an extraordinary collection of pre-war buildings, landmarked structures, and architectural gems that define the character of Midtown Manhattan. The W50S Neighborhood Association is committed to advocating for thoughtful development, opposing overdevelopment that threatens our skyline and streetscapes, and ensuring that the irreplaceable fabric of our community is preserved for future generations.
LANDMARK ADVOCACY
Working with the Landmarks Preservation Commission to protect eligible buildings and districts from inappropriate alterations or demolition.
ZONING & DEVELOPMENT REVIEW
Monitoring zoning applications and development proposals to ensure new construction respects the scale, context, and character of our historic streetscapes.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Hosting tours, lectures, and events that celebrate the rich architectural history of our neighborhood and build support for preservation efforts.
